The city's newest residents are also members of this group: craft beer makers. Brooklyn has become ground zero for the movement to brew high-quality local beers with artisanal ingredients that are flavorful but not too boozy. Ales Unlimited Brewing Company
This brewery on Seventh Avenue in Park Slope was founded by three friends who all worked in finance before deciding to go into brewing together five years ago. They specialize in Belgian-style
Threes Brewing
The post-industrial neighborhood of Gowanus has its very own brewery in Threes Brewing. They specialize in what they call "ambitious" brews, including an American stout with a local coffee bean, and a beer brewed with Guyanese cocoa beans. Their food menu is limited, but does offer tasty items such as shrimp tacos, pulled pork sandwiches, and poutine.
