Crisp, ice cold craft beer should fill this excellent stein. Perhaps some Tuckermans or Moat Mtn?

Ski bums rejoice! The North Conway area has enough kegs of fresh beer, and beer steins for that matter, available to quench your Après-ski thirst. Or, slake your post-hike thirst, considering that NoCo has miles upon miles of interesting terrain to traverse. And parents, you too can appreciate that the area is filled with brewpubs as opposed to 21+ taprooms. You're going to need a cold beer after a long day of Storyland and Pirate's Cove Adventure Golf.

North Conway is an hour drive from NH's Lakes Region, 90 minutes to Portland, ME, and close to a two hour drive to Portsmouth and the state capital of Concord. If you're coming from Boston or Worcester, it starts to stretch the limits on casual drive to the mountains.

Let's get to the breweries near North Conway.

Ledge Brewing Company

15 Town Hall Rd, Intervale, NH 03845

Hobo Joe sounds like a breakfast beer. And, as an Oatmeal Stout, it kind of is. Ledge Brewing's selling point, beyond the 3-5 good beers on tap, is a rotating cast of food trucks and live music. They are open every day of the week and dog friendly in the beer garden.

Moat Mountain

3378 White Mountain Hwy, North Conway, NH 03860

Gondola beers, anyone?

Awesome joint to visit. Dont' hesitate to grab an 8-pour paddle tasting flight and order up some Texas Style Brisket with garlic mashed potatoes and a side of slaw.

Most breweries don't possess the view that Moat Mountain has: a long scenic snapshot of Mount Washington. Further, most breweries don't have an on-site Inn*. Staying at the Inn has its advantages, as you can just stumble upstairs after a few too many of Scottie's IPAs.

If you're looking for another New Hampshire brewpub with an inn, try the Woodstock Inn Brewery on the other side of the state. Take the Kancamagus Highway (NH 112) west from North Conway to Lincoln, it's about an hour's drive in good weather.

Stunning!

Sea Dog Brewing Company (Conway)

1976 White Mountain Hwy #9, Conway, NH 03818

A straight forward brewpub if there ever was one. Sea Dog is a part of a chain of brewpubs that are mostly found in Maine. We're suckers for the Blue Paw, Sea Dog's Wild Blueberry Wheat Ale. Yeah yeah, we know. But it's pretty tasty and highly quaffable after a hike up Diana's Baths. And, it has the right amount of alcohol to enjoy a couple after a long day on the slopes.

Wood beams, rafters, cold beer. Checks out.

Tuckerman Brewing Company

66 Hobbs Street, Conway, NH 03818

Set back from town, Tuckerman Brewing has plenty of space to stretch out for their outdoor beer garden. With heaters and fire pits, the outdoor beer garden will be operating through the winter. Hint: great place for Après-ski, especially if you have a koozie in hand.

Tuckerman Brewing's Pale Ale hits the spot. A year round drinker that has a touch of breadiness, caramel, carbonation, and hops. Interestingly enough, Tuckerman's puts their pale ale through the krausening process. According to the brewery, that's where the superior flavor comes from.

Hobbs Tavern and Brewing Company in West Ossipee, NH
Rustic farmhouse charm

Hobbs Tavern & Brewing Company

2415 White Mountain Hwy, West Ossipee, NH 03890

Hobbs Tavern is a 20 minute ride South of Conway. Based on its location, you could make it the beginning or the end of a self-guided NoCo area brewery tour. The brewpub itself is a full-service restaurant that hosts weddings, runs trivia nights, and is kid friendly. It does have tons of brewery swag, in case you're looking to pick up a few craft beer gifts.

If you're lucky enough to get a seat at the couch by the hearth, take it, as it's a great spot to enjoy a Mount Witbier from. Also, Hobbs seems like a place that might serve green beer on St. Patrick's Day.

Saco River Brewing

10 Jockey Cap Ln, Fryeburg, ME 04037

Saco River Brewing might be a Maine brewery, but it's just over the border and only a 15 minute drive to Tuckerman Brewing. Stop by the tasting room for pints, tasting flights, and 32/64oz growlers to go. If you're into fresh IPAs, then SRB has one for you. The Flip Flop IPA is a rotating series that cycles through different varieties of hops.

The brewery also features the Lazy River IPA. Akin to 603 Brewing's Lake Winni, it should be the official beer of any Saco River tubing trip.
