The Best Breweries, Brewpubs & Taprooms in Brattleboro

An awesome town to grab a pint in.

Interesting Tools

Not nearly the brewing mecca that is Burlington, Brattleboro still impresses for its size, with 3 rock solid microbreweries and brewpubs, as well as the ones found nearby in the region.

Hermit Thrush

Hermit Thrush is known for their sours. Actually, well known for their sour beers.

McNeill's Brewery

One of the best spots to enjoy a tasty pint and watch a game in Southern Vermont, McNeill's seems to have closed down due to the pandemic for the first time in 25 years. It remains closed due to some structural problems.

That's unfortunate, because McNeill's is fantastic. With draft and cask conditioned beers, it's a local favorite that is flexible enough to accommodate all beer lovers.

We recommend the Green Mountain Gold Kolsch, Dark Angel Imperial Stout, and Lazarus DIPA when they start pouring again.

Whetstone Station Brewpub in Brattleboro, VT
On the banks of the CT River

Whetstone Craft Beers (Whetstone Station)

Location, location, location is the gold standard of real estate. In that light, Whetstone glitters, as the brewpub can be found along the banks of the Connecticut River just below downtown Brattleboro.

The views are excellent, whether you're drinking beers in the taproom, enjoying a lunch on the porch, or having post work snacks on the rooftop biergarten.

Kid-friendly, Whetstone has a pour-your-own soda machine that features over 140 flavors. This keeps the little ones occupied long enough for you to relax with a flight of beer.

Crazy fact: There's a yellow line painted on the floor that shows where the state line of New Hampshire cuts through the Vermont brewpub.

Beer Naked Brewery

What a name for a brewery.

Elm City Brewing Company in Keene, NH
Elm City!

Elm City Brewing Company

Elm City is everything you want in a brewpub. Great food, tasty beers, and enough indoor and outdoor space to make several visits still feel fresh and new.

One interesting note ... Elm City's drink menu - and we mean alcoholic drink menu, as they're a full service restaurant - was themed with Star Wars references when we visited.

Snow Republic Brewery

Supporting Mt. Snow is Snow Republic on Route 100 in West Dover. Because you can't have a ski mountain without some fresh beers, right?

A veteran-owned brewery, Snow Republic does burgers and beers the right way, keeping the menu clean, concise, and compact. Some of the beers we recommend trying include the Major B, Silver Tail Grape Jelly, and the Christina Tosi Breakfast IPA - a true breakfast beer if we've ever seen one.

Snow Republic also features guest taps from other VT breweries, including Burlington Beer Co. and Frost Beer Works. And, they have a sister location in Connecticut called Bank & Bridge down in Mystic.

The Outlaw Brewing Company

What started in a 178 sq ft cabin has grown to a 30,000 sq ft brewing mega-corporation in Southwestern New Hampshire.

Ok, that didn't happen. But, the flavor of Outlaw Brewing's beers is huge. So that's something.

We need to learn more about their Peanut Butter White Stout. Also, The Outlaw can be considered a cidery because it produces ciders from their Outlaw Experimental Cider Project.

West LA Beer Company

A family-friendly brewery that also allows dogs, West LA has cool ass beers that are brewed in their Southwestern NH locale. You can even leave with some of those beers in both crowler and growler form.

Perhaps the best part of West LA is all of the artwork that they feature. Scratch that. Their website's about page where they show the high school/middle school photos of the founders ... that makes us laugh. They look ready to Gleam the Cube.

We're sold on their NEIPA, "That's No Moon"
