A Barnstable Blueberry Ale is the beach refreshment you need this summer on the Cape. Just don't forget the red solo cup.

Open most days for 3-4 hours is Barnstable Brewing in Hyannis. The family-run brewery started when Peter Connor won a brewing contest sponsored by Sam Adams. From there, the husband and wife team were joined by their children to make their craft beer dreams come true.

Visiting the Cape Cod Beer company after Barnstable would be a nice 1-2 punch. Or, stop by the taproom while waiting for the late Nantucket Ferry. Speaking of the island, Cisco Brewers is a good time.

Dog-inspired Craft Beer and Brewery names

In the eternal fight for man's (and woman's) best friendship, are two forces of nature, beer, and dogs. Craft brewers around the United States have done an excellent job of marrying the two, either in their chosen brewery name, a specific craft beer, or, in the case of Everett, Massachusetts' own Bone Up Brewing Company, creating a whole craft beer series dedicated to dogs.
