Like a bright blue tsunami of destruction, AMF lands on the shores of your lips and crashes all the way down your throat to drown bathe your liver in five different types of liquor. The total prep time to make this strong cocktail is conveniently the total time that you’ll remember on the evening, so take care, be responsible, and only enjoy one Adios Motherfucker cocktail per night.

You won’t find the AMF drink on the IBA’s list of classic cocktails. This isn’t Cocktails & Dreams and Tom Cruise isn’t flipping bottles like it’s middle of 1988 anymore. No, this is more of a frat party style drink that gets everyone wrecked, which we don’t encourage for reasons of safety.

Adios Motherf is basically a Blue Long Island Iced Tea, only without the Triple Sec. Yes yes, you swap one soda type for another, but you wouldn’t ever get a blue cocktail without using a clear liquid such as Sprite.

Adios Motherfucker cocktail ingredients

The AMF drink recipe makes an 8oz cocktail. It should look electric blue by the time that it’s sitting in your highball glass. The cocktail recipe uses exclusively clear liquors like white rum, which is what allows for the neon blue coloring.

• 1/2 oz Blue Curaçao liqueur
• 1/2 oz Gin
• 1/2 oz Rum
• 1/2 oz Tequila (Blanco preferably)
• 1/2 oz Vodka
• 1/2 oz Fresh Lemon Juice (freshly squeezed)
• 1 oz Sweet and Sour Mix
• 4 oz Lemon-Lime Soda (Sprite, Sierra Mist, 7-Up, etc.)

Garnish: Lemon Wedge

Garnish: Maraschino Cherry

If you want to make two drinks, double the ingredients. So 1 ounce vodka, 1 ounce tequila, 1 ounce gin … you get the point. The potent cocktail is dangerous, so make sure you have a friend to quaff the other highball.

Substitute Ingredients

• You can substitute 1/2 fresh lime juice for 1/2 fresh lemon juice to give AMF a different spin
• You can add some simple syrup to make it a bit sweeter
• You can add some grenadine to sweeten the drink as well

What type of glass do you pour an AMF cocktail in?

As with most cocktails, you can pour them into almost any glass and have an enjoyable experience. For the best experience though, you’re going to want to use a highball glass. That’s the classy approach for an uncouthly named beverage.

You can also take the college approach, where you pour it into a pint glass.
