Big Horse Brew Pub

Originally called Horsefeathers Fine Food & Spirits when they opened in the late '80s, Big Horse Brew Pub decided to change their name when they set up a 4bbl system in the basement and got into the craft beer brewing game in the 90s. This move made them the first brewery to open in Hood River. They were brewing beer long before these homebrewing books were even written. Not to be a one trick pony (ok, that was lame), Big Horse offers guests an assortment of craft cocktails and locally sourced wines (how to open wine). to accompany their small batch beer. Those beverages combined with a decent sized menu that is a step above basic pub grub make the brewpub and ideal choice for dinners and drinks in Hood River. To complement the Big Horse ales, food, and decks out front is a beer garden in the back yard that truly puts the casual in casual dining. Interesting note - they are no longer dog friendly, which means that you can’t have a beer with your puppers. If you’re into skiing, Mt. Hood ski resort is a 45 minute drive away. The distance prevents the Big Horse Brew Pub, along with the other Hood River breweries, from being part of a craft beer scene surrounding the mountain. Mt. Hood doesn’t share in the brewery-laden luxury that is Lake Tahoe, North Conway or Park City. A Pegasus Pale or the Easy Blonde Ale sound pretty good after a long day’s hike. Plus, we could easily envision the Pale Rider IPA as the basis for a beer battered brat recipe. Plus, plenty of apps and starters. Non-alcoholic drinks offered like Hot Lips Pear soda, which sounds like a super soft birthday party drink. Or, you could go with a case of Hard Mtn Dew. ## Brewery Entertainment & Events Bloody Mary Sundays counts as an event, right? Asking for a friend. Plus, Easy Blonde t-shirts, the merits of which we will leave up to you. All in all, great beer gifts for men it sounds like, including some koozies.
